Technology Training Academy

 

Urban League of Greater Pittsburgh Technology Academy (ULGPTA), sponsored by Google and Comcast, provides a pathway for economic self-sufficiency via coursework in the technology arena. The courses offered by the ULGPTA have the following:

  • Free Instructions
  • Free Manuals
  • Free Exam
  • Employment Placement in the designated disciplines

The courses are 16 weeks of hybrid (virtual and in-person) evening classes to provide many segments of prospective students with an opportunity for economic advancement.

Class Policies

  1. You are expected to attend every class session. Because of the subject matter, missing even one class can have a tremendous impact on your learning process. If you miss a class, it is your responsibility to obtain any notes and information presented in class. If an emergency arises that will leave you unable to attend class (illness, death in family, etc.), please email your instructor before or at least within the 24 hours after class.
  2. Be on time for class. Situations come up from time to time, however, please try to be on time for class. When you are late, you miss out on important information.
  3. Please show your instructor and your classmates the same respect that you want to be shown. Hate speech, harassment, bullying, and any other sort of disruptive behavior will not be tolerated. Additionally, please refrain from using your phone during class.
  4. Classes can be taken virtually or in-person. If you are attending virtually, your camera must always be on, or it will be counted as an absence. Additionally, you must attend at least two classes in person.

CompTIA A+ Winter 2025

The Urban League of Greater Pittsburgh is excited to offer the CompTIA A+ Certification Course! This program marks the beginning of a promising career path in technology, providing you with foundational knowledge and skills that can lead to job opportunities with an average salary range of $40,000 to $50,000 per year.

CompTIA A+ certification goes beyond basic PC repair. Microsoft Azure Winter 2025

The Urban League of Greater Pittsburgh is excited to offer the Microsoft Azure Certification Course! This program marks the beginning of a promising career path in technology, providing you with foundational knowledge and hands-on experience. You’ll learn to create and manage resources using the Azure portal and command-line interface, with no prior scripting experience required. By completing this course, you’ll build confidence in Azure, laying a strong foundation for advanced certifications, such as Azure Administrator, and preparing you to pass the AZ-900 exam..

The course will encompass the following:

The Urban League of Greater Pittsburgh is pleased to offer the Cisco CCNA Certification Course! Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) Winter 2025

The Urban League of Greater Pittsburgh is happy to offer the Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) certification course. The technology path you embark on will provide you with superior knowledge and a profitable career path. The MOS certification empowers you to attain employment with a medium pay scale of $40,000 -$50,000 annually.

The Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) Certification Training course will teach you how to use the Microsoft Office suite at an advanced level. You will build your expertise through hands-on exercises, in-depth course material, and supplemental video demonstrations. You will also prepare for the certification exams for Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. As you prepare for each exam, you will test your skills at regular intervals with quizzes and exams.

The course will encompass the following:

The Urban League of Greater Pittsburgh is happy offer the CompTIA Security+ (Cybersecurity) certification course. The technology path you embark on will provide you with superior knowledge and a profitable career path. The Security + certification empowers you to attain employment with a medium pay scale of $90,000 to $130,000 annually.

CompTIA Security+ (Cybersecurity) is a globally recognized, entry-level cybersecurity certification that validates foundational skills for performing core security functions and pursuing an IT security career. It’s often considered the first certification IT professionals should earn when entering the cybersecurity field. Included in the course are topics, i.e. social Engineering, Attacks Indicators, Network Attacks, Application Attacks, Secure Protocols, Secure Network Design Authentication, and Authorizations among others.
