Helping adults age 55 and older reconnect with meaningful work.
The Urban Seniors Jobs Program is designed to help adults 55 and older move toward greater economic self-reliance through career counseling, job placement, retention, and advancement support. Offered through local Urban League affiliates, the program connects participants with real opportunities to build confidence, strengthen skills, and return to the workforce with purpose.
For employers, the program offers access to pre-screened, pre-trained applicants who are ready to contribute. For participants, it offers more than just employment support — it provides structure, encouragement, and a meaningful path forward.
This program is for older adults who want to return to work, build new skills, and move toward greater independence.
Many participants come to USJP looking not only for income, but also for renewed confidence, direction, and a sense of purpose.
USJP helps businesses connect with qualified applicants who are prepared to learn, work, and contribute.
Employers can train participants in their own workplace while receiving meaningful support during the training period.
For many participants, the Urban Seniors Jobs Program is a chance to begin again. The program materials speak to that clearly through stories of people earning a GED, improving literacy, gaining digital skills, increasing their income, and stepping into meaningful roles after long periods of unemployment or uncertainty. That’s what makes this program so important: it recognizes that experience still matters, growth is still possible, and it is never too late to move forward.

USJP is also designed to make hiring more manageable for employers. During the training period, the program pays 100% of the employee’s salary, provides third-party workers’ compensation coverage, and offers Human Resources support for the first year of employment. Employers remain in control of the on-the-job training experience, allowing them to shape the learning process to their actual workplace needs.
Participants are matched to specific job requirements and come in pre-screened, pre-trained, and job-ready. That helps reduce uncertainty while giving businesses the chance to evaluate potential employees in a real-world setting.
