Nurturing children, strengthening families and aiding in building the community.
The Urban League of Greater Pittsburgh Family Support Centers nurture children, strengthen families and aid in building the community.
At the Urban League of Greater Pittsburgh, we take a strengths-based approach to family support, recognizing parents as their child’s first and most important teacher. We walk alongside families, empowering parents to advocate for their children and to reach their own educational and financial goals.
From employment and education resources to transportation assistance and events like Family Fun Nights, we provide a wide range of supportive services that help families grow stronger and move toward lasting self-reliance.
Our programs are participant-driven, rooted in strong relationships, respectful of all cultures, enhanced through ongoing evaluation, and always completely voluntary.
Developed in 1998 to serve families in Northview Heights and surrounding communities, this Center offers, in addition to our core support services, resources such as:
Information and referral for G.E.D., college, employment, job training, and housing assistance, Nurturing Parent Program, Women’s Group, and Food bank by 412 Food Rescue twice a month.
This Center supports families in the East Hills with children aged 0-5 and requires active parent participation in parent education and child development. In addition to the core support services, this Center provides services such as Family Advocacy, Parents as Teachers (PAT), Parenting Education, and more.

Learn MoreI didn’t expect to become a mother again at 47, but the Urban League was there every step of the way. They didn’t just meet needs — they helped me build strength, confidence, and a steady future for my family.

The Family Support Centers are growing, evolving, and strengthening our reach throughout the neighborhoods that need us most. As an extension of the Urban League of Greater Pittsburgh, our centers bring essential resources directly into the community—removing barriers, building trust, and ensuring families can access all the Urban League services.
As we move forward, we will continue to expand our presence and deepen our impact. Our team is committed to meeting families where they are, listening to their needs, and connecting them with programs that support stability, growth, and long-term success. From housing assistance and workforce development to youth services and health resources, our centers serve as a direct gateway to the greater Urban League network.
Volunteers will play an important role in this next chapter. As we extend our reach, we welcome individuals and organizations eager to support community events, mentor families, and help connect neighbors with the resources they need. Together, we can continue to uplift families, strengthen communities, and ensure that every resident has a path to opportunity.
