Supporting Our Mission

Planned Giving

Your commitment today can shape a more equitable tomorrow. Partner with us through planned giving to ensure our mission continues for years to come.

What is a Qualified Charitable Distribution?

A Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) allows individuals aged 70½ or older to donate directly from their IRA to a qualified nonprofit—like the Urban League of Greater Pittsburgh—without incurring income tax on the distribution.

By making a QCD, you can support our mission to advance equity and opportunity while potentially reducing your taxable income. It’s a simple, impactful way to turn your retirement savings into community change.

Making a Qualified Charitable Distribution

To get started with your planned giving to the Urban League of Greater Pittsburgh, here is some information to help you get started:

Begin the Process

Generally, you do this by contacting the administrator of your IRA and asking them to make distributions to the charities you love.

Distribution from Administrator

The distribution usually must come directly from the administrator. Otherwise, the funds will be taxed.

Charitable Checking Accounts and Your IRA

If you have a “charitable checking account” with your IRA, slightly different rules may apply, and you should contact your administrator or financial advisor.

Support Our Mission. Empower Pittsburgh Communities.

By contributing to the Urban League, you help us fulfill our promise to tirelessly advocate for a more just and equitable nation.
