Process to Become a Mentor

Thanks for submitting your mentoring application and for your interest in mentoring with our Youth Leadership program(s). If you have any questions about your application, please contact Dr. Autumn Moore at (412)227-4199.

Here are the remaining step to complete the mentorship process:

Obtain and submit FBI, Child Abuse, and Criminal Clearances.

Mentors must have their FBI, Child Abuse, and Criminal Clearances to volunteer with Urban League of Greater Pittsburgh Youth Leadership. Your clearances must be within one year old and submitted to us if you are a new volunteer. Please confirm if your clearances are up to date if you have volunteered as a mentor or graduation coach during the 2020-2021 program year. If you do not have clearances, you must obtain them.

New Mentor Interview.

New volunteers are required to participate in an interview with a team member. Interviews, typically, take place at the Urban League of Greater Pittsburgh. Interviews currently take place on a virtual platform.

Complete mandatory online training

New mentors must complete Mentoring 101 training. This training is offered once per month. Please register at the link below as soon as possible. The spaces are limited.
