A Night of Celebration: Honoring Local Heroes of Black Resistance

You’re invited! Please join us Feb. 22 when we celebrate our local heroes of Black Resistance from across the Pitt campuses and throughout Western Pennsylvania.

Awards will be presented to students, faculty, staff, and members of the Pittsburgh community in categories such as:

  • Unsung Hero
  • Community/Campus Leader
  • Social Justice Advocate
  • Aspiring Ally
  • Creative Change-Maker

Artifacts from the life of Pittsburgh native and acclaimed playwright August Wilson will be on display, courtesy of the University Library System.

We also will be premiering a short video by Pitt’s own Jumoke Davis, an Emmy-winning storyteller, on the topic of Black resistance and what it means to members of the University community.
