State of Black Pittsburgh

The Urban League of Greater Pittsburgh’s highly-anticipated annual State of Black Pittsburgh highlights challenges and accomplishments in the work of enabling African Americans in Southwestern Pennsylvania to achieve economic self-reliance, parity, power and civil rights.

2023! The Urban League is pleased to announce the return of State of Black Pittsburgh. This year’s event, with accompanying Annual Meeting will be part of a 2day Youth ChangeMakers Conference hosted by NA For Change in partnership and on the campus of the University of Pittsburgh. The conference will begin on June 29th welcoming rising 11th and 12th grade students in the region to participate in a transformative experience filled with dynamic workshops, inspiring speakers and offer the opportunity to network with like-minded visionaries ready to make a difference in Pittsburgh.

The first day of the conference will lead up to the Urban League of Greater Pittsburgh’s members-only Annual Meeting commencing with the State of Black Pittsburgh which will be live-streamed by 1Hood Media. This year’s State of Black Pittsburgh’s theme Building Peace and Prosperity in Our Neighborhoods will highlight the work being done in the region to address systemic poverty and gun violence and will illustrate possible roadmaps to tackle these issues more effectively as a collective region.
